PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — Restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace has ended his summer-long holdout and reported for duty at Steeler facilities.
Wallace inked a $2.7 million dollar free agent tender, and, presumably, has until the season opener in Denver Sept. 9 to negotiate and agree upon a new long-term contract. It is team policy not to negotiate during the season.
Prior to his holdout he turned down an offer of five years and over $40 million that was promptly accepted by fellow receiver Antonio Brown.
According to several of his teammates, Wallace had been training privately to keep pace with them physically while training camp came and went.
