PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Students in Pittsburgh Public Schools are heading back to class today and there are some changes that await them.
Seven schools closed at the end of the last year, including the former Langley High School, which is reopening this year at a K-8 school.
Superintendent Dr. Linda Lane is stopping by the new Pittsburgh Langley K-8 as well as Pittsburgh Obama 6-12 today to visit with the students and celebrate the first day of school.
Pittsburgh Langley K-8 will serve students in Pittsburgh's West End.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Obama 6-12 has relocated this school year from its Penn and Fifth Avenues location to the former Peabody building on North Highland Avenue.
As for other changes, the school board last week approved the relocation of more than 600 school employees, ranging from food service employees to teachers and school nurses.
Stay with KDKA for a full report on the first day of class at Pittsburgh Public Schools.
