UNITY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — State police in Westmoreland County are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who died after he was struck by a vehicle Saturday evening in Unity Township.
The accident happened just after 9:30 p.m. along State Route 982 near the State Route 30 Cloverleaf.
According to state police, the victim was walking south on State Route 982 when he crossed the southbound lane and was hit by an on-coming vehicle heading north.
Investigators say the driver of the vehicle tried to avoid hitting the man, but wasn't able to.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not carrying identification.
He is described as a white male in his late 40s to 50-years-old with brown hair, a light beard and six-feet tall. He had on black sweat pants, a blue sweatshirt and size 13 black tennis shoes.
