4th Gen iPad Now Shipping In One Week As Initial Stock Sells Out
Oct 30th 2012, 14:21

It’s finally all gone.

It stuck around for more than four days, but the initial supply of Apple’s fourth-generation iPad has now sold out, causing shipping delays for the device to increase to one week across the U.S. and international stores. The delay applies to both the black and white models, regardless of which storage option you choose.

It means that any pre-orders placed from now on will be shipped one week later than originally expected, which means you probably won’t received the device until the middle or the end of next week — as opposed to launch day this Friday, November 2.

You may find a third-party retailer that’s still accepting pre-orders for launch day delivery, but unfortunately only Apple can promise you’ll get one on the day. The only way to guarantee a new iPad now, then, is to visit your local Apple store on launch day.

If it’s taken four days for initial stock to sell out online, something tells me the device won’t be too difficult to get hold of. You certainly shouldn’t expect to see the rush the iPhone 5 has generated, but there will be queues due to the iPad mini.
