GREENSBURG (KDKA) — A man, accused of firing 17 shots at Police in Hempfield Township, is now in jail.
Gunshots rang out at approximately 10:30 p.m Thursday night after state police responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Antler Lane off of North Greengate Road.
Police say a woman named Dawn Ryan called from a neighbors house to report that her husband, Daniel Ryan was intoxicated and stated that he was going to kill her.
State Troopers Jesse Cramer and Paul Tononi arrived at the home where the suspect stated that he wanted to speak to his wife.
Troopers then advised that he could talk to his wife via phone once he turned on the porch light and came outside.
Daniel Ryan refused both offers and instead began to discharge a firearm from inside the home.
Several other troopers responded to the scene and surrounded the house to secure the perimeter.
The suspect continued to fire shots at officers after arresting him a short time later.
According to the Tribune Review, Ryan was charged with 17 counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and one count of terroristic threats.
