PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – More people from our area are heading out to help out some storm-ravaged states.

More than a dozen members of the 171st Air Refueling Wing left Saturday for New York and New Jersey.

They'll stop at Fort Indiantown Gap near Harrisburg to receive orders and then head out to the New York City area.

"We're the guard," Security Forces Squadron Cmdr. Capt. Eric Munshower said. "It's what we do and it's what we do every day. When the local people come and call, and in the local state, they need us, that's what we do. That's our primary mission as the guard."

Twenty members of the 171st were already deployed Friday night to help with the storm relief.

Jergel's Rhythm Grille in Warrendale also held a donation drive to help storm victims.

It's sending an 18-wheeler filled with food, clothing and other necessities to New Jersey.

Organizers hope the supplies will reach storm victims tomorrow.
