PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The “Cake Boss” show on TLC has viewers in more than 160 countries.
Hundreds of local fans turned out Wednesday afternoon, for pastry chef Buddy Valastro’s visit to the Giant Eagle Market District in Settler’s Ridge.
They lined up for photographs and his signature on his third book, “Cooking Italian.”
“The first book was really my story about how I became the Cake Boss,” says the owner of Carlo’s Bakery in New Jersey. “My second one was straight-on baking and cake decorating. This one’s all about cooking, baby, Hoboken style.”
Nine-year-old Kylin Rosnick of Mount Lebanon had a homemade card for the Cake Boss. She also had a special cake in mind.
“Maybe like pink, purple, turquoise, and like polka dots.”
Five-year-old Marco Valastro joined his dad, on this leg of the trip.
“Throughout the tour, sprinkled in, I’ll have different family come with me,” the Cake Boss says. “And it’s a great time.”
It’s all in the family, all of the time.
“That’s what Hoboken style is all about, being yourself,” Valastro said. “Not forgetting where you came from. Work hard, and do the right thing.”
That’s the icing on the cake.
