There are fewer than 5,500 of them in the world. They have mottled coats with black, brown They weigh between 37 and 80 pounds on average and live to be about 10 years old. They are hunters and eat antelope, zebras, wildebeest, springboks, gazelles and impala. African painted dogs are very social and stay in packs.
