Clairton Bears Winning Streak Continues, Will Play For State Title
Dec 8th 2012, 04:15

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Clairton Bears have done it again. Impressively.

They won Friday’s game against Port Allegany 44-12.

This makes 62 consecutive wins for the Bears, the longest winning streak in America for high school football. They’ll now play for the state title.

The team is attracting national attention for a town that’s had a rough go.

Clairton, of course, was hit hard when steel mill jobs left. Storefronts were boarded up.

The CBS Evening News featured the team and the town this week.

USA Today also profiled the Clairton Bears.

“We’re a depressed area right now,” said Davlin Mullen. “This is what we live for. We work all week… and wait on Friday nights.”

If Clairton wins the state championship, it will be the team’s fourth consecutive state title.
