Cult of Mac received an email today with some exciting news: Apple is extending the special offer of extra iCloud storage for all MobileMe customers who haven’t made the transition, yet. The extra upgrade was supposed to expire on September 30th of this year, but will now expire in 2013 on the same date.
According to the Apple support document on the matter, the upgrade extension applies to former MobileMe members who were using more than 5G of storage when they moved their account to iCloud. The iCloud storage was set at whatever over-5G level they had been using, and was set for a year, which is now extended a second year. So, if you were paying for 10, 20, or 50Gb storage on MobileMe, and were granted a complimentary upgrade to iCloud with the same amount, you’ll get to keep using it for another year.
If you want to check to see how much you have, hop on your iOS device of choice and go to Settings > iCloud > Account. On a Mac, head into System Preferences > iCloud, and then click Manage followed by View Account.

Dear (MobileMe Customer),
When you moved your MobileMe account to iCloud, we provided you with a complimentary storage upgrade beyond the standard 5GB that comes with an iCloud account to help you with the transition. Originally, this storage upgrade was set to expire on September 30, 2012.
As a thank you to our former MobileMe members, we will continue to provide you with this complimentary storage upgrade at no charge, for an additional year, until September 30, 2013. No action is required on your part. For complete details, please read this article.
