Security Changes Noticeable At Youth Football Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — One week after a deadly shooting in the stands during a youth football game, teams and players saw security changes.

Games are now being held on the same day and the same location.

Saturday, it was Kennard Field in the Hill District.

Police officers were on hand and will be for the rest of the season. Attendees also had to pass through metal detectors.

"Appreciate because as you see, it’s a positive thing and we need to keep it positive," parent attending a game, Jalisha Jones, said.

Three people were shot at Obama Academy Field last Saturday.

Police say one of them was targeted by the shooters — the other two were innocent victims.

One of those innocent victims later died, 64-year-old Charlene Walters.

Police said this week they have two possible “persons of interest” in the case.
