Winn-Dixie is recalling some of its cut fruit products that contain a mango ingredient linked to recent cases of salmonella.
The recall, which includes stores in Volusia, Flagler and 29 other Florida counties, follows another recall of potentially salmonella-tainted mangoes from Mexico earlier this week.
"We encourage guests in possession of any of the recalled items to immediately discard the product or bring it back to their store," said Brian Wright, Winn-Dixie's senior director of communications. "Guests who have purchased the products may visit their neighborhood Winn-Dixie to request a full refund, no questions asked."
The Winn-Dixie recall includes Garden Highway-brand tropical salsa, and Fruit Burst and Island Medley varieties of cut fruit sold under the Winn-Dixie name.
The recalled products will have a plant number of P-009 on the label, next to the UPC.
Winn-Dixie said it hasn't received any reports of infection or illness, but was recalling the fruit "out of an abundance of caution for its customers."
The store's recall follows a broader recall of Mexican mangoes sold in the U.S. between July 12 and Wednesday. The fruit was "Daniella" brand, sold at supermarkets including Costco, Save Mart Supermarkets, Food 4 Less, Ralph's, Topco stores, El Super, Kroger, Giant-Eagle, Stop & Shop, Aldi and Whole Foods, according to USA Today.
Federal officials are investigating 105 salmonella cases that turned up in 16 states since July 1. Another 22 cases that match the U.S. illnesses had already been reported in Canada.
The Winn-Dixie customer service line is 866-946-6349, open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
