ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — A fight broke out during a family dinner at Ditka's Restaurant in Robinson Township and a man lost a finger.
The family from Weirton, W. Va., was celebrating a birthday.
"It was a family gathering celebrating the father's birthday, about 12 to 15 members of the family, they were in a private party room secured by French doors," Robinson Township Police Chief Dale Veitmeier said.
When those French doors flung open, two men on the floor throwing punches at each other found themselves in the main dining area with other customers.
Tony Sellitti, 48, of West Virginia, lost his finger. Witnesses say it was bitten off by his 53-year-old brother-in-law.
"The actor who lost his finger is the one who started the fight," Chief Veitmeier said. "He was highly intoxicated and picked up a wine glass and tried to break it over his brother-in-law's face and the brother-in-law defended himself."
Police found Sellitti's finger in the public dining area, but it could not be saved.
Sellitti is charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault. He will face a judge at a preliminary hearing at Robinson District Court next week.
