CBS Pittsburgh: Mountaineers Crack AP Top 10 Sep 4th 2012, 19:36 CBS Pittsburgh News, Sports, Weather, Traffic and the Best of Pittsburgh Mountaineers Crack AP Top 10 Sep 4th 2012, 19:36 PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — West Virginia, which entered the season at No. 11, has moved up to No. 9 in the new AP college football poll following a 69-34 win over Marshall in Saturday’s 2012 opener at Milan Puskar Stadium. This is the first time since the third week of the 2008 season the Mountaineers have been ranked that high in the AP poll. They are one of six Big XII teams to remain in the AP Top 25. WVU has also been bumped up to No. 8 in the coaches’ poll. The Mountaineers will try to improve upon both rankings Sept. 15 when they take on James Madison at FedEx Field in Landover, MD. Also receiving two top-25 votes in the new AP poll was former Big East rival Cincinnati, which hosts Pitt Thursday night at 8:00 at UC’s Nippert Stadium on SportsRadio 93.7 The Fan.
