PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the names of two children killed in a fire in Greenfield on Friday.
Irihanna Hayward, 3, and Kamari Thomas, 4, were found in upstairs bedrooms by firefighters.
"Went to the second floor and found one child in each of the two rear bedrooms on the second floor," said Chief Darryl Jones, of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire.
One was pronounced dead at the scene, the other at the hospital.
Police say children's mother was picking up another child at school.
"It happened so fast," Abbey Brown, neighbor, said. "I heard the noise and then I saw the fire just billowing out of the house. A lot of screaming."
A babysitter jumped from a three-story window and landed on concrete below.
She was listed in critical condition with neck and head injuries.
Investigators say the fire started in the first-floor living room. There's no word on what caused it.
Witnesses say the mother came running and screamed that her children were inside the burning home.
