OAKLAND (KDKA) – An apartment building in Oakland was evacuated Sunday morning due to elevated levels of carbon monoxide.
According to police, roughly 100 to 200 apartments were evacuated at the King Edward Apartments on Bayard Street.
The elevated levels were initially detected in the boiler room and some other floors in the building.
Some residents were treated at the scene, but the cause of the elevated levels is under investigation. One person was taken to a local hospital, but their condition is unknown.
It is unknown when the residents will be allowed to return to their homes. However, a Port Authority bus has been sent to the area to temporarily house the displaced residents.
