IRWIN (KDKA) — When Irwin police responded to a domestic call at the Village of Easton apartment complex Sunday night, they didn't expect the victim to be a 3-year-old girl.
Irwin Police Chief Joe Pocsatko told KDKA's Kym Gable the mother's boyfriend, 22-year-old Marvin Jackson Stewart, beat the toddler with his leather belt.
The child has severe bruises and swelling on her arms, face, back, legs and buttocks. Stewart told officers the mother told him to do it.
Police say they will likely file charges against her as well.
The girl was taken to Forbes Regional Hospital then transported to Children's Hospital for treatment. She is in the custody of a grandparent.
