MOUNT OLIVER (KDKA) – A local toddler remains in the hospital with serious injuries after an incident in Mount Oliver Thursday night.
It was initially reported that the child had fallen down the stairs, but police said it may be a case of child abuse.
Indications are that the child was dropped off at the Mount Oliver Police Department and the injuries were not conducive with just a simple fall.
Now, police are investigating this incident as a child abuse case.
Allegheny County Police said the 2-year-old boy is still in serious, but stable condition at Children's Hospital.
The child's mother's boyfriend rushed him to the police department around 9 p.m. after the child allegedly fell down some stairs in the home.
The child was unresponsive and had multiple cuts and abrasions on his body.
The mother of the child has been interviewed, but the boyfriend remains the focus of the investigation.
Police said that charges are expected to be filed at some point on Friday.
